Keans are Keen

Kean by name and keen by nature is the motto of the family of Mr. and Mrs. W. Kean, of 78, Furlong Road, Bolton.

Enoch Kean son of Mr. and Mrs Kean, after serving in the Army, was reported missing on May 4th, 1940, and news has now been received that he was killed in action on April 28th, 1940.

Before entering the Forces, Pte. Kean was employed at Barnburgh Main Colliery. He received his education at Bolton Council Schools.

Mr. W. Kean is an old soldier having served with the 2nd Dragoon Guards, Queen’s Bays, for 27 years, and served in the Great War.

Two daughters have joined up. L./c, Edith Kean joined the A.T.S. in April. 1940. She is 23 and was in business at Leeds before enlistment. The elder daughter. Miss Irene Kean is 25 and is also in the A.T.S. Another daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kean is Mrs. E. Hancock. who met with bad luck during one of the heavy raids on Loudon over 12 months ago and is still unable to get about. Her home was damaged.
