Bolton R.A.F “Veteran”

Flight Sergeant George Cecil Unwin (26), son of Mr. and Mrs. George Unwin, 19, Station Road, Bolton, is an old Bolton Council Schoolboy and gained a scholarship to Wath Grammar School, where he matriculated, and at the age of 16 entered the Royal Air Force.

He has now 10 years’ service to his credit. He is on coast patrol duty. Going out with other planes to guard a convoy a few weeks back he sighted twelve German machines about to make a raid on the convoy. Eight of the Germans were brought down, and all our machines arrived home safe.

Flight-Sergeant Unwin says he is feeling fine, and is quite happy and contented, but, he says he is happier when having a crack at the enemy.
