Airman – Tate, Ronald – His First Flight

When Ronald Tate, second son of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Tate, of 50, Wath Road, Bolton, joined the R.A.F. Voluntary Reserve, his greatest ambition was to fly. He has now achieved this ambition, having recently had his first flight.

In ‘a letter to his parents, Ronald said: “It was the greatest thrill of my life.” He enjoys every minute of his new life and gained the highest points in his squadron in a shooting test.

As a boy he was always interested in modelling aeroplanes. He was educated at Wombwell John Street Boys’ School. He receives the “Times ” each week.
