Soldier – Lyon, Richard – Killed in Action

Pte. Richard Lyon (Sherwood Foresters)

Private Lyon, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Lyon, 18, Church Street, Bolton-on-Dearne, was killed in action on Sept. 26,  He was single, aged 22, and before enlistment in February last, was employed on the surface at Hickleton Main.

He went to France last April.

In a message of sympathy Capt. G. E. Broad says: “Your son was one of the best lads in the Company. I valued him, and he could always be relied upon. We can ill spare such men.”

Sec, Lieut. T. B. Sharpe writes: “He died bravely and did his duty.”
