A former pupil of Dearne side secondary school, Graham Lee (16), only son of Mr and Mrs F Lee of 32, the Crescent, Bolton, a member of the 16th Don and Dearne (Bolton Methodist) Troop, has been chosen to represent Don and Dearne in the South Yorkshire contigent to the St George’s Day parade and service at Windsor on April 26.

An apprentice with a painting and decorating firm in Bolton, Graham is a senior Scout in the Bolton Methodist Troop.

Graham goes to Gilwell on May 9th To be invested in the Queens Scout.

He went again secondary and Bolton Junior schools. His father, Mr Fred Lee, is a foreman fitter at Barnburgh Main colliery. Graham is a keen angler and a member of the junior section of the Wath Angling league.

17 year old Barnsley Grammar School for former. Gordon Booth, only son of Mr and Mrs FJ Booth, of 89 Hirst Gate Mexborough, is also chosen.

Gordon, whose parents are in general grosses, is leader of the seventh Don and Dearne (Mexborough St John’s) Troop he became a Queens Scout in the August, 1958 he is an old pupil of Mexborough Doncaster Rd, Junior, Adweek Road and technical schools. Wath Grammar School student 18 year old Ian Marriott, of 24, toll bar Road, Swinton, will also be in the South Yorkshire Contigent.

Ian, who is a senior Scout a member of the second. Don and Dearne (Swinton) Troop, has been in the movement for 10 years. For three years he has been a member of the Swinton Troop and before that he was with the 4th Don and Dearne (Mexborough) a keen cyclist, hiker and pothole, Ian was invested as a Queens Scout about three months ago he is only son of Mr and Mrs A.H.Marriott.

17 years old Malcolm Harvey, son of Mr and Mrs Cyril Harvey 4, Grove close, West Melton, has been a member of the 8th Don and Dearne Scout troop for six years. He became a Queens Scout last year. Malcolm is in the upper sixth at Wath grammar school and he hopes 20 Sheffield University in October a member of the Hickleton athletic club for three years, he is an accomplished discuss and shot-put thrower and competed in all England championships at Plymouth a few years ago hobbies include tennis and rugby. Malcolm is a member of the school rugby XV elder brother, Graham (20) is a miner at Manvers Main colliery. It will be the second time that a member of the senior family of two, beech Crescent, Mexborough, will have attended the service. Two years ago Noel senior now 20, was present and this year it is the turn of his 18-year-old brother, David an apprentice fitter with British Railways at Mexborough, And a member of the 4th Don and Dearne (Mexborough) Troop. He has been a scout for seven years and will be invested in a Queens Scout at Gillwell next month. He is a member of the South Yorkshire musical comedy society and a keen badminton player.
