£50 Match At Wombwell

Yesterday a big crowd assembled the Station Lane Grounds, Wombwell, to witness match for £5O between animals of the snap  species,

J. Priest’s dog Ben,” of Goldthorpe, and J. Wright’s Jim,” of Bolton-on-Dearne, who were articled to contest the best of 25 courses, Jim being conceded two dead rabbits start.

The officials were J. W. Roberts, Tinsley, and Tom Douglas, of Leeds, who acted referee and pistol firer respectively.

The contest provided some excellent sport, the match being evenly contested, and resulted as follows:

Jim killed 1. 2, 6, 9, 12, 14, 16, 20, 21, 22, 26, and two given. Total 13.

Ben killed 3. 4. 7,8, 10. 13, 15, 17, 18, 24, 25. Total 11.

Courses 5, 11, 19, and 23 were declared void.
