Never Absent In Four Years

A surprise presentation was made to 10 years old Alan Bertram on Friday on his completion for years without absence at Highgate Junior Mix School

Alan is the eldest son of Mr and Mrs George Bertram of 14, East Croft Bolton.

Mrs Jessie Burton told the “South Yorkshire Times”, “We were very surprised when Alan came home with a guinea token and a letter of congratulation.”

Alan younger brother, Gary, at the same time completed one year at school without absence, now he says he is open to achieve the same record as his brother.

The token was presented to Alan by the headmaster, Mr E Wilby and he also received a letter of congratulation from the Divisional Education Officer, Mr P.M.R. Timothy on his achievement.

Alan will be attending Dearne side secondary school next term, bought an encyclopaedia and the fountain pen with this token.

Another pleasure for the family came in a recent holiday at Butlins, Skegness, Gary entered a “picture of health” competition was placed third, received a diploma and a prize, and a free week’s holiday at the camp
