Miner Fined at Doncaster

At the Doncaster West Riding Court today, Harry Westerman, collier, Bolton on Dearne, was charged with fraudulently removing goods at Bolton to avoid a restraint for rent.

Defendant was in arrears with his rent, and his landlord, Joshua Getting, giving notice that if he got into arrears again he (the landlord) would distrain for the money.

Subsequently there was 3s (15p) due and 11 shillings (55p) arrears, and on calling for the rent the landlord found the house empty, defendant having done a “moonlight flit.”

Mr Baddeley appeared for the prosecution.

An order was made on defendant to pay 14 shillings and costs.
