At Mexborough, on Monday 13, Bolton Rovers played a friendly with the new Mexborough club.
Both teams were strongly represented.
Beaumont, at centre-half, played a fine game both in defence and attack. ‘Mexboro’s first goal came from a run on the right, Hackford netting with a -hard shot. The second half opened in Bolton’s favour and G. Bower scored with a’ fast oblique shot.
Birkinshaw regained the lead for Mexboro’, but L. Bower quickly equalised. From a corner Hackford again put Mexboro’ in front, but Bolton at once restored the position with a goal by Deakin.
Bolton came again and Heaton had hard luck, just shooting just over. However, G. Bower gained the lead and Bolton won a hard fought match by 4-3.
