Breaches of Colliery Rules.

Walter Agar, pony driver, Market place, Mexbro’, was fined 2s. 6d. and costs for breach of Special Rule 90, by riding on an underground road at Denaby Pit, on May 6th.

Isaiah Benton, Edward Sarjent, Thomas Minchen, and Arthur Howarth, colliers, were fined Is. each and costs for going into a part of the Denaby mine, other than that in which they were appointed to work, on May 17th, thereby committing a breach of Special Rule 86.

Assault at Denaby Colliery.

Arthur M’Guire, filler, Denaby, was charged with an assault upon Matthew Bostock, dataller, on May 20th. — Fined 20s., including costs.

Assault at Swinton.

Matilda Arksey, wife of William Arksey, and daughter-in-law of George Richard Rawlin, rate collector, summoned William Acaster, a postman, for assault, on May 22nd, by striking her on the face.

Acaster had issued a summons tor assault against George Richard Rawlin. Acaster accused Rawlin of coming to him and seizing him by the throat, when asking for an explanation why he had struck Mrs. Arksey.

This was denied, Rawlin stating that he took hold of Acaster by the coat collar.

Acaster was fined 20s., including costs, and the other summons was dismissed.

Stealing Coal at Bolton-on-Dearne

Ellen Richardson, wife of a collier, pleaded guilty to stealing coal, of the value of 5d., the property of the Manvers Main Colliery Company, on May 20th, and was fined 208.; including costs.
