Death of Old Bolton Soldier who fought in India and South Africa

The death of Mr Joe Vinerd, took place on Thursday week at the Montagu Hospital, after a short illness at the age of 42.

The deceased, who was employed at the Hickleton Main Colliery, was an old soldier, who saw considerable service in the Indian Frontier Campaign of 1897-8, and went through the South African campaign and held three medals and 8 bars.

The deceased was interred on Sunday at the Bolton Cemetery
