Death of Mother Kept From Son

While doctors and nurses are fighting to save his life, every effort is being made to prevent a Bolton-on-Dearne man hearing of his mother’s death and of his father’s serious illness.

The patient is Mr. Jack Clarke, of The Crescent, Bolton -on – Dearne, who is in Montagu Hospital, Mexborough, suffering with serious injuries received in an accident at Barnborough Main Colliery.

Clarke was crushed by a heavy fall of stone and he was taken to the hospital in a critical condition suffering from a crushed hand, concussion, fractures of the thigh and jaw, injuries to the ribs and eyes, and multiple cuts and abrasions.

He lies with his body almost covered with dressings and his hand strapped up in a frame.
