Bolton on Dearne Election
THREE CHANGES.
Labour was defending one seat and attacking in the remaining three, and the result was a net gain of two seats tor the Labour party, which previously had a majority on the Council. The only other woman candidate, Mrs. Smith, who was a nominee of the Labour party, polled over 1100 votes and was only just out.
Mrs. Spencer’s votes included 163 plumpers. The result was declared from the Free Library at Bolton about ten o’clock on Saturday evening to a large crowd by the deputy returning officer, Mr. Fred Hawksworth; and was greeted with enthusiasm. The figures are:
