Bolton Miner Fined

Reginald Fuller, miner, of Bolton-on-Dearne, appeared at Doncaster on Saturday, in answer to tire summonses of assaulting and damaging the spectacles of Samuel Goldbergh of 79. The Crescent, Bolton.

Goldbergh said the assault took place at the Harlington Inn, Bolton on September 23rd. Witness was playing dominoes with two other men when Fuller came in. and, approaching him from behind. knocked Dan into the fireplace. Witnes’s received a cut eye and face and his spectacles were broken.

James Firth, licensee of the inn, said Fuller wanted to fight complainant but the latter never struck a blow.

Fuller: This is a mountain being made out of a molehill

Defendant, who pleaded guilty to damaging the spectacles but not to the assault, said he only pushed Goldberg and told him to get out of the way and go home Goldberg was not “properly sober.”

The chairman, Mr. W. Hinchliffe, said there no doubt that Fuller had committed the assault. Defendant would be fined 40s for the assault and 10s. for the damage, payable at the rate of 10s. per week.
