At meeting of the Bolton-on-Dearne Urban Council, it was announced that the Council were considering suggestion to extend its boundaries.

Mr E Large, chairman of the Finance Committee, moved that the Council abandon proposal to establish a national kitchen at Goldthorpe, at a capital cost of £1,450.

Mr. J. Swift, who opposed the resolution, said he did so in the interests of the most overworked class of people the community—the miners’ wives.

The resolution was rejected six votes to four.
