After two defeats, Bolton on their own ground on Saturday, won a comfortable victory over a Tankersley team of only ten men. The Tankersley bowling was weak, but the Bolton batsmen made it look difficult for at times scoring was slow. Alban Turner and Dick Probert mastered it and made a third-wicket stand of 100— Turner missed his century by a run through over eagerness.

The Tankersley bating was weak too. Handy could get no one to stay with him. The outstanding performance was the bowling of Cyril Probert (picture), who kept up a fast pace for 16 ovens and took 6 wickets for 29 runs. Both sides fielded well, especially Tankersley, who did not yield a single extra.
