A Hospital Collector

This goat, which is the property of  Mr William Laverack, a miner, of 111, Ingsfield Lane, Bolton on Dearne, is one of a team of four, which Mr Laverack has trained to pull small carts, similar to the one shown in the photograph, containing money boxes, and they attend hospital demonstrations all over the district.

Mr Laverack, who first took up the work eight years ago, has collected about £500 for various hospitals, and has attended demonstrations in Goole, Mexborough, Wath, Great Houghton, Goldthorpe and Highgate.

The work of training the goats is tedious and difficult, and occupies a great deal of Mr Laverack’s time
