A Dearne Gesture

The committee of Dearne F.C.have made a sporting gesture to the old age pensioners of the district by presenting each pensioner with a member’s ticket entitling them to attend all home league matches. The entitlement does not extend to cup times.

Any pensioner residing in the Dearne area can get a ticket by applying to the Welfare ground on any home match date.

On Saturday Dearne entertain Wombwell Athletic in the Sheffield Senior Cup and are looking forward to a good “gate”

The team will be selected from Goldsborough, Jefferson, Barker, Ashmore, Webster, Thacker, Longley, Atkinson, Dutton, Galvin, Chaplin, Pickering, Lidster and Cawthorne

Dearne’s outside right, J Longley (picture) is a native of Harlington. A forceful winger, he served in the RAF during the war and played regularly with his unit side in various parts of the world.
