Service Snaps

Private J. Wood, son of Mr. J. Wood and the late Mrs. Wood of Mexborough Road, Bolton. was educated at the Bolton Council School and went on to Mexborough Secondary School with a County Minor Scholarship.

On leaving school Pte. Wood went to work as a butcher with his uncle, Mr. Parkin. of Wombwell, After 5 years he joined the Militia in September last year and in January of this year was drafted out East. When at school he was a member of the Mexborough Secondary School cricket XI and a violinist in the school orchestra.

He is happy and contented in his new life and in a letter home asks for the “South Yorkshire Times” to keep him in touch with local news.
