Case Withdrawn

Thos. Ruckledge, collier, Bolton, was summoned for having stolen a number of apples from a tree owned by Mr. Mitchell, farmer, of Bolton.

Superintendent Sykes handed a letter from Mr. Mitchell asking the Bench to allow the case to be withdrawn.

The Chairman told Mrs. Ruckledge to inform her son that if he were caught again he would be dealt with severely.

The case was withdrawn.


Drunkenness

Wm. Stokes, collier, Wath, was summoned for having been drunk on licensed premises at Mexboro’ on the 27th ult.

Police-constable Webber stated that he visited the Commercial Inn, Mexboro’, on the date named and found the defendant there drunk. He called the landlord’s attention to the defendant’s condition and he was ordered out.

A fine of 10s. and 15s. costs was imposed.

Stephen Golair, collier, of Denaby, was summoned for having been drunk and disorderly at Mexboro’ on the 27th October.

Police-constable Cade stated that on the 27th ult., at 11.15 p.m., he saw the defendant very drunk in Doncaster road, Mexboro’, shouting and making use of some very filthy language. Witness requested him to go away or use better language, but he refused to do so.

Police-sergeant Gunn stated that he was in company with the last witness and saw the defendant, who was very drunk in the street.

A fine of 15s. and 12s. 6d. costs was imposed.
