Weddings : Ogden-Brown.
The Broomhill Methodist Church was the scene of a “rainbow” wedding on Thursday.
The bride was Miss Louie Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Brown, 120, Everill Gate Lane, Wombwell. and the bridegroom Mr. Percy Ogden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Ogden,’ 62, Mexborough Road, Bolton-on-Dearne.
The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. H. Cash of Goldthorpe. The bride wore white satin beaute with veil and wreath of orange blossom and carried a bouquet of lemon coloured tea roses.
There were five bridesmaids, Misses Jenny, Agnes and Doris Brown, sisters of the bride. Miss Ivy Ogden, sister of the bridegroom and Miss Mildred Taylor. The first three wore dresses of blue georgette, blue crepe suede and pink crepe suede respectively. Miss Ivy Ogden had chosen a dress of pink georgette and Miss Taylor was in pink crepe amide. The bridesmaids had shoes and caps to match their dresses.
The bride’s mother wore blue crepe de Chine and the bridegroom’s mother was present in blue crepe de Chine and lace.
Mr. George Jackson was best man. Mr. Harold Brown was groomsman and the bride was given away by her father. A reception was held in the Primitive Methodist schoolroom at Broomhill, and later the couple left for Scarborough, where they are spending the honeymoon.
