Unofficial Celebrations at Bolton-On Dearne.
The residents of Lowfield road, Bolton on Dearne celebrated Peace Day in a noteworthy manner.
Miss Godsill organised a tea and sports, which were held in a field kindly lent by Mr T Epworth. A splendid repast was provided, and there were many sports events, for both children and adults.
Three legged races by ladies, and a tug-of-war between ladies and gentlemen caused much merriment.
Sweets and Notts were distributed to the children, and in the evening when the rain came on, the little company, repaired to a Dutch barn for an impromptu convert, songs being given by the children to accompaniments by Mrs. F. Trickett.
A large bonfire, which had been built by Mr J. Isbell and others, was lighted, and there was a good display of fireworks.
Miss Gobsill, very ably assisted in the carrying out of the arrangements by Messrs. Dexter, Lyons and A. Hepworth, Lowfield road has cause to be proud of the manner in which it celebrated Peace.
