Second Time Lucky?
Two years ago, Julia Collins represented her area in a beauty competition…now she has ambitious to go one further and to win first place.
Julia, of Ings Field Lane, Bolton, entered the Coal Queen competition of two years ago and was chosen to represent the Yorkshire No. 3 Area in the finals., but this was as far as it went.
Now Julia has lost much of the nervousness she believes was her downfall and is in confident mood.
Both times she entered on the suggestion of her mother Mrs. Maureen Collins; who shares her daughter’s confidence. “She must stand a great chance,” she said.
Her father, Mr. Gerry Collins, who works at Wath Main Colliery, also thinks that Julia, who works for Corah’s of Bolton, has a “good chance”.
