Councillor W Burrows, presiding at the annual meeting of Saint Andrew’s theatrical Society at Bolton on Saturday, described the past year as one of outstanding progress.

“The society now enjoys a reputation which extends far beyond the boundaries of Yorkshire, he said, and this was a note on which the producer and business manager, Mr. A. H. Barnes, (picture) also had something to say.

Enquiries had been received, he disclosed, for the society to appear in: Doncaster, Matlock and Wakefield.

He continued: “There must be a limit to the continued breaking of records, but I am optimistic enough to forecast that next year’s pantomime will eclipse any result yet achieved.”
