Pit Lad’s Sad Mishap at Hickleton Main.
A pit lad named Watson, of Bolton-on-Dearne, narrowly escaped death at the Hickleton Main Colliery yesterday. He was employed on the pit top in the vicinity of the screens, and in some way was caught in one of the “tipplers,” the apparatus for upsetting the corves, and very badly injured.
One of his legs was broken in two places, and his foot twisted.
