New District Nurse
Miss M. Hill has been appointed district nurse in connection with the Hoyland Nursing Association and will take up her new duties on Monday next.
Miss Hill is the daughter of the late Mr. C. J. Hill and Mrs. H. E. Hill., of 5, Furlong Road, Bolton-on-Dearne. She was trained at Sheffield Royal Infirmary where she spent four years on the staff and obtained her S.R.N. She was later staff nurse at the Papworth large Settlement, Cambridge, where she had one year’s training in tuberculosis nursing. She received midwifery training at the Willington Hospital, where she obtained the S.C.M. Certificate and was employed as a staff nurse in the maternity and general wards.
After two years at Willington she received her Queen’s Nurse training at Salford Hospital Manchester and enrolled as a Queen’s Nurse in 1937. She was appointed district nurse at Yeadon in 1930, a post which she held until her decision to apply for the Hoyland vacancy.
