British miners dug one million more tons of coal last year than the official maximum estimate

Dr. G. H. Johnston, of Wath-On-Dearne, left £50,469 (net personaly £50,469). Duty paid £15,206.

The Rev. D. C Sparks who will preach his farewell sermon as Vicar of Bolton-on-Dearne on Sunday, will be instituted Rector of Southery, NorfolK, next Wednesday He has been Vicar of Bolton since 1939.

Nearly £150 still remains to be raised if Peter de Wint’s watercolour, Conisbrough Castle” is to be purchased as a Festival year gift tor Doncaster Art Gallery. Cheques towards the fund may be sent to Mr F A Jordan 4, Priory Place Doncaster.

Mr. A Fouchard, of Bolton-on-Dearne, who expressed the Hospital Committees good wishes to patients in Mexborough Montagu Hospital and Sandygate House at Christmas, used the hospital’s inter communication system to pass on his greetings to the various wards,  later visiting the patients personally
