Mr. H. Simpson of 41, Wath Road, Bolton-on-Dearne, the Independent candidate who was successful in the South Ward, is a native of Barnsley but for the last 20 years has lived at Bolton. He is by profession a plumber and electrical engineer and during his time in this district he has had close connections with local government work and has executed numerous tasks for public authorities in the neighbourhood.

He spent three years during the war in the Royal Air Force andwas stationed at Cologne for nine months after the Armistice.
