Comedian Charlie Williams the football to footlights showman   took the Clubland Command audience by storm at Bolton WM.C. on Thursday.

Former Upton man and Doncaster Rovers star, Charlie convulsed the lucky hundreds who managed to get hold of tickets – which are always like gold – to climax a scintillating show. In the words of a committee man he, like the rest of the package, “went a bomb.”

This was the second time on the trot that Bolton’ capacious and comfortable, had been honoured by playing host to the show – held annually in support of the local Equity charity – and they again turned up trumps.

It was all action from the start to finish, and the pace, at the bars and on stage, never looked like flagging.

Club residents, new and pretty organist Helga Reynolds and renowned local drummer Terry Hopkins) put up a fine backing.
