Beckett Hospital Cup.
Bolton Rovers 2. Dearne 2
This replayed final was played today in cold and showery weather and before only a poor company.
Bolton won the toss and had the benefit of strong breeze. Despite this, Dearne were soon aggressive, but Bolton’s defence held firm. The latter replied, and Thompson saved a strong shot from Finney. From a lofty centre by Eaton, Thompson had to clear again.
After 25 minutes, after a good movement the left wing, Hardwick secured, and, tricking the defence, scored for Bolton with fine shot. Dearne replied and went near from a scrimmage in the Rovers’ goal-mouth. Play was fairly even till just before the interval, when Benfell conceded a corner and from this Finney put Bolton further ahead.
Half-time: —Bolton Rovers 2 Deame 0.
In the second half Brown and Featherstone (penalty) scored for Dearne, equalising the scores, and thus extra time was entered upon.
