One of Last From Dunkirk

Private T. B. Hateley (21), of Low Mill, Bolton, was one of the last to leave Dunkirk and had to leave all his belongings on the beach and then wade up to his neck in water to get to a boat.

Private Hateley was horn in Durham and before he joined up worked at Wath Main Colliery. He has been in the Army 18 months and is in the York and Lancaster Regiment.
