Induction Date for New Bolton Vicar
Father J. R. Ashworth, at present Parish Priest of All Saints Church, Clipstone, near Mansfield, has accepted the living of St. Andrew’s Parish Church, Bolton, and his induction will take place on April 27th.
Father Ashworth is married and has four daughters, Ruth, Helen and Clare (twins), and Stella (aged 16 months). He was born and lived in Yorkshire until the start of his National Service with the Royal Army Medical Corps, after which he trained for the Priesthood at Kelham and Lichfield Theological Colleges.
He was ordained in Wakefield Cathedral in 1960 , and was priested the following year. His first curacy was at All Saints’ Church, Castleford, then he served at St. Matthew’s, Westminster, and St. Saviour’s, Luton, before becoming Parish Priest of All Saints’, Clipstone.
He is interested in gardening and poultry farming.
Father Ashworth is greatly looking forward to his ministry in Bolton, and he is assured of a hearty welcome from the parishioners of St. Andrew’s Parish Church.
