Little Aggression
Dearne 116 for 7 Wath 201
With an absence of aggression at a vital stage, Wath failed to force victory from Dearne, at Bolton, on Saturday, after putting on 201, Dearne reaching 116 for 7 after losing half their wickets for 84. Wath were without five regulars — including Skipper Darley—and Harvey and Mitchell took two wickets cheaply early in the game.
They failed to make much impression on Ray Cutts or Heaton, however, and Cutts, who was the bowling star of Wath’s match with Dearne at Wath, scored 85 as opening batsman before he was caught by Smith, off Atkinson. Heaton made 41. Harvey had 4 for 41.
W. Birkin (41) was top scorer in Dearne’s reply.
