Service Items.

Mrs. Leak, of 15, Prospect Road, Bolton, has received a letter from her son Bill, a Dunkirk prisoner of war now in Germany, in which he says he is quite well and the camp they are in now is set in very pretty scenery.

They have been allowed to sun-bathe, and have enjoyed it, and Bill’s only complaint is of lack of cigarettes. He sends his kind regards to all Bolton friends.

Another Boltonian in Iceland, Fusilier Victor Henshaw, writes home to his mother at 125, Furlong Road, saying he is well and happy and the life there is very congenial.

One evening he came across another Boltonian, Walter Hawkins, of Chapel Street, Bolton, and home at once became much nearer. Walter asked to be remembered to all his family and friends.

Pte. Charlie Renshaw, of the Royal Engineers, Victor’s brother, is now out East. Being a reservist, Pte. Henshaw joined up at the beginning of the war. He was educated at Bolton Council schools and before entering the Forces was a chef in London. He was one of the fortunate ones at Dunkirk.
